My husband, two daughters and I relocated to the Lake Wallenpaupack/Hawley area almost two years ago. We lived in Wallingford,CT for four years before that and Yonkers,NY in a high rise for seven years before that. We hope to be in the Poconos for a long time. I will admit each move took some getting used to. Like many of my clients in real estate we moved to the area because of the great school districts, low taxes, affordable homes and low crime rate. Many people start out as vacationers or weekenders and enjoy all the area offers so much they relocate. Manhattan is less than two hours, Middletown is twenty minutes from Matamoras and Sparta,NJ is about thirty five minutes-all great for commuters!
There is a great art community in Milford, Hawley is well known for antiquing and there are many working dairy farms throughout Wayne county. Lake Wallenpaupack is the second largest man made lake in the state of PA. The lake can generate electricity, you can fish, lay on the beach or cruise around the lake in any size boat. You can enjoy the great outdoors and all the wildlife or ski in the winter. There are many communities that offer amenities such as indoor/outdoor pools, clubhouse, tennis and more.
